BRITISH MUSEUM DIRECTOR
RETIRING AFTER TWENTY-ONE YEARS At the end of the year Kir Frederic Kenyon, who has completed twenty-one years as director and principal librarian of tbo British Museum, will retire. An authority- on ancient and modern literature, Sir Frederic has been honoured by’ many’ universities, and some y’ears ago Ohio founded Kenyon College after him. He holds more than twenty degrees and academic distinctions. Sir Frederic had only just entered tho services of the museum when tho institution acquired a valuable collection of Greek papyri, and it fell to him to edit thorn. Ho has also edited editions of tho classics which have become hand books in the schools and universities, and has written on the Bible and military subjects. _ Groat administrative abilities were revealed by Sir Frederic, and the museum authorities were so impressed with his work that they extended his period of office for three years after he had reached the age limit of sixty-five. It was for his services at the museum that ho was knighted in 1912.
