ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
MOTHER AND TWO CHILDREN ’ DROWNED. A triple, drowning tragedy occurred at Oeo, in South. Taranaki, yesterday; afternoon,’ the victims .being Mrs Da Zimmerman, aged about forty years,) and her two'boys, one aged three years and the other, six months. The bodies of . the boys, were found in a oieek about a chain from, the Zimmerman 3 farm house, - and Mrs Zimmerman 3 body - was discovered floating in/a small dam sixty chains away. Mr Zimmer-t man, who had been - share milking .top Charles/ Muggeridge, left'the house at? about 10 a.m. with his brother for Mug* geridge’s other farm. On'their return! the house was seen to be empty, and there;was. no; sign of the mid-day. meal Laving been prepared. The husband $ fears were aroused, and, remembering, previous statements by his wife, a search was immediately made, and the bodies 1 of/"the children were found ini shallow water, where there was evidence of a struggle for' life. Pursuing; the search, the men found Mrs Zmw merman’s body in-the; dam used foil driving the; milking plant. ’ WOMAN FATALLY INJURED. Fatal injuries were suffered by Mrs! Josephine Clarke, aged fifty-seven vears, of Ponsonhy,,' when she was struck by a motor car after alighting from a tramcar in Jervois road, Ponsonby, late yesterday aftenioon. She died in the Auckland Hospital at 7.45 p.m., an hour and a-half after hen admission. She had suffered; severe in-* ternal injuries. The accident occurred at* the Hamilton road tram stopping place, where Mrs Clarke left the tram, , which was proceeding up to Hcrp* Bay. Just after stepping into the rOad*' way she was struck by a motor car.
THREE SUDDEN DEATHS.,. Mary Isobella Gardner,' a ; widow* aged fifty-two, .was found; dead in the bath at the house at which she boarded in Napier. The deceased, who, suffered from heart trouble, is supposed to have had a. seizure, and as a result had beeii drowned. Mrs Gardner had been manageress of local tea rooms, and had proposed to start business to-day on her own account. At’ the inquest at Napier on Mra Dorothy Emily Dorset,, Who was found dead in bed on December 19, the coroner, Mr Mowlem, returned a formal verdict. The evidence showed that, the deceased had suffered from heart and kidney trouble for sonle time, and he? death was ascribed to a seizure, William Livingstone,. of Cooksort street, Kaiapoi, aged, fifty-four, died suddenly in the street pear his home on Thursday evening. The deceased was ai well-known taxi proprietor Ho was at’ one time recognised as. one of the do* minion’s. best long-distance //runners* and was prominent in professional atbletio circles , over twenty years-ago. BODY FOUND IN RIVER. A body, identified to-day- as ■ thafi of Thomas M'Cleary,. aged .fifty three, a presser employe<l in the Petone Wool-* len Company’s local factory, was found in the Heathcote River (Canterbury! oh Thursday. At the inquest a verdict’ of found drowned was returned.
