“ PILL BOXES " FOR POLICE INSTALLED IN ALL BIG CITIES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 3. The police “pill box” or “kiosk” idea has been adopted with remarkable speed in all the big cities of England. For instance, 101 have already been established in Bradford, where formerly there were twelve sub-stations. The public is now brought in much closer touch with the police^ [A previous message read as follows :—Crooks, confidence men, tricksters, and smash and grab thieves will soon find their livelihood departing, as Scotland Yard has organised an elaborate system of police posts similar to post office kiosks, but blue instead of red, and labelled “ Police.” When the system is fully established in London the public will instantly be able to get in touch with any subdivjsiocal sub-stations, and summon a body of police or a twenty Horse-power van to any place in the metropolitan area within five minutes. In case of emergency up to twenty police and detectives will bo available. The van contains a steel-lined cell and first aid appliances.]
