HYPNOTISED GIRL
BURIAL FOR HALF AN HOUR ASTONISHING SCENES IK STAFFORDSHIRE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 3. There were astonishing scenes outside a Staffordshire theatre, where a touring hypnotist came out with £2OO as a challenge that he was prepared to bury a hypnotised girl eight feet deep and allow her to remain half an hour. Over 2,000 people surged around to witness the spectacle, and the steel coffin was about to be lowered when a large body of police intervened and prevented the incident. The crowd howled defiance at tho police when they saw the likelihood of losing a free show, but order was eventually restored, the hypnotist agreeing to desist, and saying: “If 1 am arrested I will have to prove that the girl is m no way in clanger, and that would take a lot of doing.” The girl, who was annoyed, said she did not mind being buried for two hours."
