NEW YEAR IN LONDON OLD-TIME FEATURES. Press Association —By Telegraph-—Copyright LONDON, January 1. (Received January 2, at; 1.30 a.m.) London welcomed the new year in the heartiest fashion. In spite of the great extension of facilities for indoor celebrations immense crowds concentrated at Trafalgar square, Piccadilly Circus, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, where the old-time features of hot roast chestnuts, balloons, paper hats, singing, dancing, and cheering prevailed. Newspapers, glad to be rid of the old year, seem unenthusiastic about the prospects of the new. ________
