CROWNING OF SCHOOL QUEEN

Many attended the ceremony to witness the crowning of the North-cast Valley School queen, Margaret Moldrum. It was a gala night for parents and children. Girl Guides and Boy Scouts formed a guard of honour while the procession passed down the hall. The start was announced by a fanfare given on the bugle by Mr W. B. tow ler. Led by the colour-bearers of the North-east Valley Girl Guides and North Dunedin Boy Scouts, the chancellor, with sceptre, crown, and sword, proceeded to the stage, where the mayoress in a neat speech crowned the queen. Several investitures of local interest took place, the jester _ contributing his share of fun with antics and witty remarks. The first part of the programme, which reflected great credit on the teachers, consisted of items by the scholars, varying in form from delightful acting of nursery rhymes by the infants, folk dancing by the lower standards, to well-balanced part singing by the seniors. The committee and teachers have decided to repeat the programme on Monday evening.
