ELECTRIC POWER FOR STRATHTAIERI
At the meeting of tho Taieri County Council yesterday the matter of electric light and power for the Strath. Taieri district was ■ introduced by_ a deputation from that _ locality raising the question of the validity of the proceedings adopted by the Otago Electric Power Board in respect to the initial steps taken for the inclusion of portion of Strath Taieri district in the scheme for supply of light and power to the district. The council informed the deputation of the knowledge it had of the matter obtained by certain documents coming to its clerk for correction and verification. A copy of a petition was deposited at the county office for public inspection during four weeks, the documents after the expiry of the required period being returned to the secretary of the Power _ Board. After a lengthy discussion, in which all the members of the deputation took part, it was pointed out that direct and definite information would be obtained if the engineer-manager of the board was waited upon.
