The question of motor lorry traffic on Sundays occupied the attention of the Hawke’s Bay Counties’ Conference at Napier, when it was resoived to discuss the matter with the counties’ inspector and the police. The speakers thought it was not right that motor lorries should carry on trading on Sundavs. The position was governed, one delegate stated, by the 1924 regulations, which provided that commercial vehicles may not run on Sundays for-the purpose of business. People who followed their calling on Sunday broke the law, and should come under the notice of the police. One speaker said that heavv lorries were a hindrance to people who looked to Sunday for a quiet drive. ' The auxiliary scow Rahiri, of 35 tons, owned by Messrs A. W. Bryant, Ltd., was driven ashore fluring rough weather at Chamberlain’s Island, in Hauraki Gulf, on Thursday morning. The bulwarks on the starboard side were torn off. and shingle which Tie vessel had loaded was washed overboard. In. Rahiri was successfully towed oil by a launch yesterday, and was brought to Auckland to go on the slip. If you haven’t tried Uig free Motor Spirit yet there’s a new delight in drivinc ahead pt you.—(.Advfc.J
