Mr Vaughan, M.P. for Forest of Dean, announced at a meeting at Newnham that experts had reported to the Government that a scheme for the barrage of the river Severn was a practicable commercial proposition. Jt was estimated that the cost would be about £25,000,000.
One result of this ’ British Niagara, said Mr Vaughan, would bo electricity at a fraction of a penny per unit.
