RETURNED SOLDIERS’ BUSINESS

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of tho executive of the Ihmedin Returned Soldiers’ Associationtv as held last night, the president (Mr A. M'Cutcheon) being in the chair. One honorary and five new members were elected, and two outward transfers wore approved. Two resignations were accepted, and one death was recorded. The Secretary reported that at a recent sitting of the War Pensions Appeal Board twenty-four cases were dealt with, and in all thirteen were upheld, seven dismissed, and four postponed. Of these the association brought forward sixteen cases, of which eight were upheld, six dismissed, one postponed, and one withdrawn. It was also reported by the secretary that he had met a representative of the Red Cross Society, and the committee’s proposals regarding a fuller utilisation of the home at Montccillo were explained. It had been decided by the committee to accept as ‘ patients returned soldiers who required post-hospi-tal treatment no matter whether their disabilities were due to war service or not. Those who were in a position to pay towards the cost of their maintenance were expected to do so, but in cases of men without means they would be considered oh their merits. ' ■■ -
