SCHNEIDER CUP
BETWEEN' BRITAIN AHD ITALY COST BECOMING- PROHIBITIVE. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August' 10The air correspondent of the 1 Daily Chronicle’ says that the coming Schneider Cup race is likely to be the last contest tor many years. The expense of organising a team is intolerable, as the new racing aero engines are subjected to such strain that their effective working life is only about live hours. It now costs £25 0,000 to build a scries of super-speed machines and train expert pilots, hence the Governments are taking over the task. France has already withdrawn, and it is doubtful whether the solitary entry from the United States will develop sufficient speed, so that the real contestants are likely to be Britain and Italy.—Australian Press Association.
