BURGLAR BROUGHT TO BOOK. A man who had been responsible for a number of burglaries in and around Wellington has been brought to book in the person of Frank Clark, alias Edwards, alias Gilford, a labourer, who arrived in the’dominion early in July hard up. . The stolen goods from eleven burglaries total £251 13s 3d. He was committed for sentence. Charles Sender, charged with receiving from Clark, pleaded not guilty,' and was committed for trial.—Press Association telegram. EX-SOLDIER’S DEATH. John Emmersoii, a billiard marker, was found dead in a room smelling ot gas. The deceased distinguished himself in the war. He was mentioned in despatches for bravery at Messinos, where he lost an arm. Considerable space is devoted to the incident in General Young’s hook, ‘ New Zealanders at the Front.’—Waimate Press Assciation telegram, KNOCKED DOWN BY BICYCLE. A young woman named Miss Mirams, residing in Elder street, was admitted to the hospital at 2.30 this afternoon with injuries to her head, received through being knocked down by a bicycle.
