RELIGIOUS DISSENSION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sit, —I notice a letter in your issue of the nth inst. seeking to attack a lecture delivered in the St. Kikla down Hall on Sunday night, entitled ‘/I he Papacy in Phophecy.’ As an unbiased listener, I must state in fairness to the speaker that what he did was to prove the wonderful fulfilment of Scripture 'prophecy in relation to the modern rise of the Papacy. As lor sectarian strife or any sign of bitterness, there was nothing of such a spirit manifested, only one of toleration. Haying heard the speaker on previous occasions m the same hall I am prepared to state that ho deports himscll as a Christian gentleman.—l am, etc., I'AUiXESS. March o. TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—l n reply to “Anglican,” let me say that, while the gentleman stresses that he does not seek religious discussion ? he certainly betrays his real attitude when he impugns my motives and goes on to flagrantly misrepresent the whole tenor of my address. Ho is living in hopes that there would bo some broaarainded people at the meeting who would not be exercised by what was said, and .1 can assure him that, judging from the expressions of many present, there were some broad-minded enough to appreciate the speaker s tolerant attitude. Further, “ Anglican defies me to declare myself . , a . Chi’'istian men.” I can see that if he had

Lin' standardising of Christianity I would bo reckoned .without the pale. However, since it is unchristian to boast of one’s Christianity, .1 will be content j,o leave the decision with those to whom 1 minister. How strange, too, that my assailant should speak. of Christ s “ love thy neighbour as thyself ’■ and yet be indifferent to His “ judge not. that ye be not judged.” It seems apparent that, in spite of what “Anglican ” has written, as far as he is concerned the days of “.religious spite” have not yet ended. Like -some in the days of the apostles, he has been “ cut to tlieheart on hearing a plain statement of Bible truth.—l am, efe., Thu Si’eakee. Mardf (i. [Ths correspondence is now closed.— Ed. E.S.J
