Admiral of the Fleet Sir Edward Seymour died during the week-end from influenza; aged 39. He was senior Admiral of the Fleet and senior member of the Order of Merit. His naval career was extremely distinguished, extending over fifty-eight years,. and he was the only British naval officer ever to command a force from eight nations during warlike operations.
