WEARY STATESMEN
LEAGUE COUNCIL MEETING Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 5. The Geneva correspondent of the * Morning Post ’ states that a wcarylooking oocly of statesmen gathered round the council table at the opening meeting of the iifty-i'ourth session. Sir Austen Chamberlain was pale from Ins recent illness, M. Priand was obviously worn out with fatigue, Dr Stresemann was as white as a ghost, and M. Scioloja (the Italian chairman) spoke so wearily that the public fipdrcely heard a word. A well-known American likened the meeting to a consultation of sick doctors of Europe. Everyone was delighted that Sir Austen Chamberlain was again able to take his place in the council chamber. —Australian Press Association.
