SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL COHCERT A most enjoyable programme was presented in Mis Majesty’s-Theatre hist evening, when the annual concert by scholars of the Christian Brothers High School was held. Choir and solo items, an operetta, gymnastics, and other displays were features of the entertainment. For the success of the programme Brother M. P., Maloney was solely responsible, and to him a groat deal of credit is due. Ho also ably conducted the school choir of .120 voices. ‘Vivat,’ a song of-welcome to , Mis Lordship the Bight Rev. Dr Whyte, opened the performance, and then came ‘ Tho National Emblem ’ march by the orchestra, comprised of local ■ talent and under the guidance of Mr D. Whelan.’ The choruses of. ‘The Bird That »Soars ou Highest Wing,’ ‘The Gypsy Chorus’ (‘Bohemian Girl’), and ‘Let the Hills Resound With Song,’ were well rendered by tho choir. ‘The Morning Invitation,’ was sung later on in the evening, together with ‘ 0 Hush Thee, My Baby.’ Master E. Lovell gave a humorous sketch entitled ‘ George Washington’s A kg.’ Club swinging by Form HI. provided a, most attractive display, while Master B. Jones was amusing in a selected'recitation. vA tronp of twelve selected voices were heard in two popular pieces —‘ Oft in the Stilly Night ’ and ‘, Starlight on the Quiet Rivei; ’—and Master Hartstouge. sang ‘Eileen. Alaiuiah.’ A bright and novel display on the vaulting horse by the. gymnasium class brought the first half of the-bill to a close. •. 1 • . An operetta entitled ‘The Golden Whistle,’ which opened the latter half of the programme, provided . good amusement, and the chief: characters handled their parts . well,: while the singing, especially the splps - was,- productive of some really"fine work. ‘ Jack Tars At-Sea ’ was easily the most amusing item of the performance..
