TOO MUCH RAIN
CHRISTCHURCH'S WET DECEMBER FARMERS APPREHENSIVE (.Specui, TO IKK ■ SlA*,'] CHRISTCHURCH, December 20., Over an inch of rain fell to-day, bringing tho total' rainfall figures for Ibis month -up to 4.4 in, and making it iho wettest December for the last fifteen years. Farmers throughout the province will ho a little apprehensive as to the results that will follow this rain. They have had all that tlwy need so far, and the danger from rust will cause anxiety'. As far as feed is concerned, the, rain a. w<ek ago was sufficient to carry pastures through until tho end of .January witliuot any more moisture. The growth recently has been so abundant that, many farmers are finding it difficult io keep pace with it. They will not welcome tho present rain, as it wiil probably make the feed too sappy, with tho result that the sheep and lamhs will not fatten so quickly as. they would on dryer, hander grass.
