——- Sir Joseph Ward, accompanied by Mr and Mrs Vincent Ward and Mrs B. B. Wood, will reach Dunedin from Invercargill, at 6 p.m. today, and will stay at Lite Grand Hotel during a brief visit here. Mr J. R. Kirk, of Gisborne, has come to Dunedin for a brief visit, being -booked to leave on Monday morning.

At the recent annual examination conducted by the Real Estate Institute of Now Zealand, the following Dunedin candidates either passed in tho three papers comprising the examination or completed a full pass:—Messrs J. Oldham were passengers by the through express this morning on route to Auckland. , On his retirement from the Dunedin Customs Department Mr K. S. Begg was made the recipient of a suit case, a pipe, and a brooch for Mrs Begg. The presentation was mado by Mr B. Anderson (Collector of Customs), who re.orred to Mr Bogg’s long and faithful sendee in tho department. Tho office of His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner at Wellington has received cable advice of the death on November 8 after a short illness of Mr R. W. Matthew, C.M.G., Director of tho Empire Trades and Economic Divisions of tho Department of Overseas Trade, London. Mr Matthew was born in 1879, and entered the War Office in 1903.
