DUNEDIN NORTH SEAT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — VI. VV. Batchelor is certainly versatile. On© day he attacks tho United Party, another Reform. Referring to Mr Tapley’s Ravcnsbounio meeting, Mr Batchelor seems at great pains to show that the splendid hearing Air 'Tapley obtained was in some respects due to the indulgence of Mr Batchelor, whereas tho fact is tho meeting was solidly with Mr Tapley and quite impatient with Mr Batchelor, whose question-asking habit lias degenerated into stupid speech-making. Mr Batchelor states what is incorrect when he writes that Air Tapley said Queensland’s greater production aver New Zealand was because Queensland was neerer the Equator. What Air Tapley said was that Queensland’s mineral resources were enormous; also sugar production ran into very largo figures. As regards the vote of thanks, Air Tapley diu not, I am sure, count tho heads as Air Batchelor says. Tho mover of the vote of thanks said confidence would be expressed in Mr Tapley at the ballot box. The meeting was so obviously with Mr Tapley, and showed its positive dislike of Air Batchelor, that no vote of confidence was wanted.—l am, etc., ANir-SocfAi.tST. November R).
