Sir,^—“ Elector ” is more interested in Socialism or Communism than he is interested in a system of protection that would enable the employers of any manufacturing firm to receive an increase in wages, thereby participating in that protection as the Australian New Protection provided for. “ Elector’s ” new-born zeal in tho interests of Communism is on a par with an alleged Communist party formed in Queensland when Mr Theodore was its Premier. Detectives appointed to investigate tho allegation made of the Communists being financed by Russian gold joined iho party, and found that the gold came from vested interests in Queensland, who were interested in defeating Labour. It was planned that by running Communists for Parliament tin's would secure sufficient votes for militant workers to split the Labour vote and let tho Tories win on a foul. The detectives also discovered that the alleged Communists were chameleon political agents of tho Tory party, whose work in New South Wales helped to bring about the downfall of the Labour Party there. When the exposure appeared in the ‘Daily Standard,’ together with the previous history of the alleged Communists, they did not have to ho deported. They left tho State by the -next train. Your correspondent would have ns believe that in spile of its rules Communists join the Labour Party with transitional schemes that will aid evolution from capitalism t! rough Socialism to Communism. Knowing a leading Communist always opposed Labour I walked three miles to view this marvellous metamorphoses at a meeting of Mr Campbell’s, the Labour candidate. When Mr Campbell told him in reply to bis question that the Labour Party would rather put a coat of tar on an asphalt path than attempt tho. impossible by gilding a star, the Communist showed his hostility by being tho only one to vote “No” on tho motion. of confidence.
