'THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) ARREARS IN MAINTENANCE. Christopher Scanlon was charged with being £sy los in arrears in respect to a maintenance order. Ho pleaded guilty. The maintenance oiliccr (Mr Trevor Holland) said that in the first place the order was an Impicrial one, but defendant had recently registered out here. Only £5 had been paid otf altogether. Tho defendant was a seaman, and ho seemed to have no sense of his responsibilities. Kix months’ imprisonment was the penalty. BREAKING AND ENTERING. Charged with breaking and entering the dwelling of Michael Percy Kearney with intent to commit a crime, Victor Fanning Fraser Kett was, on the application of Senior-sergeant Quartermain remanded till Wednesday next. Mr C. J. L. White, who appeared for the accused, asked that nail he allowed, but the senior sergeant opposed tnc application, and bail was refused.

COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. Louis Francis Wnkelin and Bertie Williams each pleaded guilty to the charge of an attempted indecent offence. Mr J. B. Oallan appeared for Wakelin, and Mr E. J. Anderson for Williams. After evidence had been taken both the accused were committed for sentence at tho next sitting ol the Supreme Court. On behalf of Williams an application for hall was submitted, and this was granted in the sum of 100 in accused’s own recognisance, and one surety of Lino or two of £SO, the accused to report daily to the police.
