BLOEMFONTEIN, July 28 At Bloemfontein to-day, before a crowd of 7,000, and in brilliant sunshine, the All-Blacks beat Orange I'ree State■ by throe converted tries (lu points) to one converted try, one try. and one penalty (11 poit*4s). Although

hard fought, it was a ragged match. The game was played on Bloemfontein cricket ground, which had been ploughed an.d watered for the occasion, and was not recognisable as a cricket ground. NEW ZEALAND K ORANGE FREE STATE S The Free State forwards worked hard for a recovery, and the hacks made several good runs, Coetzer cutting in on one occasion and reaching Lilburne before lie was tackled. The New Zealand backs, however, were not idle, and made thrust after thrust on their own account. They wore snowing improvement with Lucas at centre, and took play to the Free State twenty-five, but a penalty stopped their advance. A good break by the free State’s forwards, led by Basson, Potgietcr, and Visser, removed play to fhe New Zealand twenty-live, whore Maurice Brownlie was penalised lor olt-sule in front of fhe posts, but Potgietcr missed an easy kick. A minute or two before time the Free State backs opened out with a beautiful movement, which ended in Tromp scoring tho best try of tho match. Potgietcr again missed the kick.
