POSSIBLE LOCAL INDUSTRY

t AUCKLAND, July 16. Mr A. 11. Eutrican, engineer to the State Eorcst Department, who returned I'rom an overseas tour by the Aorangi, made for the purpose of investigating methods of paper making from wood pulp and other matters of a similar nature, said that his main object was to study the technical side of producing newsprint and wrapping paper. His investigations had indicated very promising results, especially after_ his inquiries in North America, and it is his intention to go further into the possibility of establishing a new local industry. He would not say what would ho done until lie had made investigations on the spot and had applied the knowledge he had obtained abroad.
