m NATIONAL CONVENTION MS HOOVER'S KOMINATIOH Pmi Association— By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, June 14. (Received June 15. at 9.15 n.m.) News from the Convention Hall states that the delegates foregathered this morning, certain that the minority report of the Platform Committee on tho agricultural plank would ho brought to tho floor of tho convention and a test vote demanded. Tho minority group is led by Hie Lowden-Curtis-Watson alliance, which, inter alia, supports the M'NaryHangcn measure, to which President Coolidge and Mr Hoover arc irrevocably opposed. Senator Smoot (chairman of the Platform Committee) read a document in which the first actual mention was made of Mr Hoover’s name in the platform, commending his activities in connection with the Mississippi flood, which produced half a minute’s applause and a few diminutive snake dances from the delegates. Senator La Follettc (son of tho late Senator, who is the stormy petrel of the Senatel presented the minority report. Senator La Folletto is one of the youngest Federal legislators and tho best speaker. He addressed the crowd which a moment before had cheered the commendation of the Coolidgo Administration, and now cheered as enthusiastically Senator La Follette’s rebukes of President Coolidgo for vetoing the M’Nary-Haugcu Bill. Tho speaker also condemned a huge navy as conductive to war and military conscription. He also condemned the oil scandals, and asked the Republicans to repudiate Mr Fall and the. other Republicans involved in them.—Australian Press Association.
