THE NEW STRAND

NEXT FRIDAY’S ATTRACTION. When Crank Borzage was entrusted with the making of the Fox production based on Austin Strong’s plaj; of 4 Seventh Heaven,’ which will bo initially screened at the Strand Theatre next Friday, he left no stone unturned that the film should be faithful in every detail. Mr Borzage spent sis weeks in Paris and district 'in collecting data and photographs for the making of the mm, and later brought camera men and assistants to “shoot” the exterior scenes of the famous capital. His search for details of types appearing in the picture was exhaustive, and no opportunity was missed to get new angles on characters. For instance, the Chico of Charles Farrell is a slightly modified version of a Parisian workman whom Borzage studied for many weeks, while Papa Bpul, so ably portrayed by Albert Gran, is the conir bination of many types seen in the slums of Paris. Pero Chevillon the good father of. the district, is so faithfully portrayed that one suspects Emile Chautard of having more than a passing knowledge of the character. Then ther is the Diane of Janet Gayttor, the tragic, dispirited waif of the streets who is glorified and uplifted by love—she is, perhaps, the most vivid of all the shade* figures who glide through this wonderful story. Anyone who knows Paris will recognise the faithful photography which is a feature of the tilm and will recognise the familiar landmarks.
