"This is u matter which lias been giving business people a good deal of concern," remarked a member ot the Jnvercargill Chamber of Commerce at its meeting to-day. " The cash on delivery system has increased in New Zealand, but as a business scheme the profit goes only to the 'shoppers at Home," he said. "It is a vital question to drapers, said another member. " I believe that by this system a person can open a parcel and then refuse to accept it." The discussion was caused by the receipt of :i lotter concerning the C.O.D. system, the writer protesting against postmasters throughout the country acting as agents for exporters from centres, outside New Zealand in receiving and delivering on payment of the invoice amount parcels of various articles sent to the ordei of residents in New Zealand. It was decided to request the secretary of the Associated Chambers of Commerce to give all information on the subject, and that the present position be defined.
