FORTNIGHTLY COUNCIL MEETING
The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was held last night, those sent being the mayor, Mr W. B. Taverner, in the chair), Crs Clark, Shacklock, Campbell, Hayward, Douglas,' Begg, Scott, Wilson, Mitchell, Car- 1 nach, and Black. NEW CABLE FOR MORNINGTON. That the tender of Messrs John Ed*, mond and Co., Ltd., for the new Smith; rope for the Mornington cable line at the price of £363 11s be accepted was a recommendation of the Tramways Committee, the adoption of the report of which was moved by Cr Douglas, who mentioned that it was the lowest of six tenders received. The report of the committee was adopted without discussion. WORKS COMMITTEE. Moving the adoption of_' the Works Committee’s report, Cr Wilson set out the new work that was considered in connection with the proposed loan allocations. It comprised tar-sealing in Pitt street (£145), tar-sealing Stafford street (£178), work in Arawa street (£115), Tomahawk road footway (£300), also in Taiuui road (£100). As far as the Caversham area was com earned £IOO had been allocated for work that would come in after the work of the ditches in Macandrew road. In Maori Hill expenditure would total £258, Mornington £465, and Northeast Valley £403. Cr Hayward seconded the motion, the report being adopted. TENDERS. For the removal of a dwelling iu Lawrence street, Mornington, and the re-eroction of it at Ellis Park, the tender of Mr W. T. Kaler, of £365, was accepted. The Dunedin Engineering and Stool Company’s tender for the supply and construction of No. 3 pipe line at Waipori was accepted, the amount being £7,335.
