One hundred thousand people welcomed Captain Kingsford Smith and his party on the arrival of the Southern Cross this afternoon. The journey occupied four and a-half hours. Archer) has sent the flowing cablegram to Captain Kingsford Smith:—“The citizens of Christchurch are anxiously awaiting your decision to make Christchurch your objective in the Tasman flight. On behalf of the citizens, I extend you a hearty invitation to the City or the Plains, and assure you of an enthusiastic welcome.
