The annual report of the New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser Company states that the net profit earned this year is much less than that in the three preceding years, a fact which is entirely due to the keen competition which obtained for more than nine months of the period. However, there was a marked increase in the output, with a consequent lower overhead cost. The profit amounts to £17,625 15s 2d, which, together with the balance from last year, makes available a sum of £30,862 Os sd. Owing to the smaller profit earned the directors recommend that the dividend he reduced to 6 per cent., absorbing £15,71!) 14s, and leave £15,142 6s 5d to bo carried forward. DUNEDIN STARR-BOWKETT. A meeting of shareholders of the Dunedin Starr-Uowkett Building Society was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall last evening, Mr T. J. Walker presiding. The 196th appropriation of £SOO in the No. 3 group was disposed of by ballot, cluster No. 84, hold by one shareholder, being drawn. The ninety-second appropriation of £SOO in the No. 4 group was disposed of by ballot, cluster No. 340, held by two shareholders, being drawn. Tho fifty-second appropriation of £SOO in the No. 5 group was offered for sale, and realised a premium of £29 for £3OO and £25 for £2OO.
