WATER SHORTAGE PROBLEM DRASTIC REDUCTIONS FORECASTED A report by the pity electrical engineer on the present position of the water supply at Waipori will be submitted to the City Council on Wednesday night. The report indicates that there has been a further drop of lit in the level of Lake Mnhinerangi during the past two weeks. As the power output is constantly increasing the outlook is causing some anxiety, and it is deemed advisable that consumers should lie made aware of the position and advised to take steps now to economise as far as possible in the use of power so as to minimise the risk of shortage and thereby obviate the early imposition of restrictions. The Diesel engines at the converter station have been started up to help to relievo the situation, and tho Diesels at the drainage pumping station are also working. If the dry spell continues and the stored water is used up there will be no option but to impose drastic restrictions within a very short period. _ The co-operation of all power users in minimising power demands will be of material assistance in helping the department to carry on until ram falls to replenish Lake Mnhinerangi.
