MOSGIEL MUNICIPAL BAND

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Mosgiel Municipal Hand was field last mgnt. There was a good attendance of members and supporters. The president (Mr Walls) was in the chair. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. After referring to the success of the band at the Christchurch contests, the report stated that there were twentynine playing members, several learners, and plenty of would-be learners, if the instruments were available. The band had paraded in uniform on twentyeight occasions during the year, during the year two very successful dances had been held—one at Mosgiel and one at Riccarton. A series ot Sunday night concerts had been much appreciated by the public. A success!ul concert had also been hold chieliy arranged by Mr A. Walmslcy. The band specially thanked the Mosgiel Fire Brigade for yeoman service rendered. In the contest account there was a debit of £7B, and in the general account there was a credit of £llO. The public had supported the hand very well, and this help was much appreciated. With the continued hearty support of members the incoming year should be even more successful than tin one just closed. The following office-bearers were elected;—President, Mr J. P. Walls; vice-presidents, Messrs John Wright and F. Frew; secretary, Mr E. Pul lan, committee —Messrs J. Wilkie. J. Fogo. S. J. Wilson, W. Brown, T. Pullan, Watt, and Baldock; auditor, Mr C. G. M'Lacblan; librarian, Mr L. Graham; custodian, Mr P. Rogers; ■ drum-major, Mr Lloyd; sergeant, Mr Wilkie; corporal, Mr H. Larsen; lance-corporal, Mr A. White; Social Committee— Messrs J Wilkie. T. Pullan, H. Larsen, A. White, Fogo, S. Wilson, and B. Walt. Several recommendations wore made to the incoming committee, one of which favored a reunion of all bandsmen, hon. members, and past members of the band since the. time of the Winton contest.
