PRELIMINARY PROPOSALS CONSIDERED IFss Unitbo Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 1. A meeting of directors appointed by the Premier to consider preliminary proposals for the investigation ol the industrial laws was held at Parliament House this morning. The Premier presided, and the Minister of Labor was also present. The parties iu the House were represented by Sir John Luke, Messrs Nash and Waite (Reform Party), Messrs Holland and Savage (Labor), and Messrs Wilford and Ransom (Nationalist Party). After sitting for two and a-half hours the committee rose till 3 o’clock this afternoon. Mr Coates, as chairman, stated that no decisions would be announced until the conclusion of the preliminary conference, which he expected would bo this afternoon. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made, and said a practical agreement had been reached on all except one point, which would be considered by T members of the committee during the luncheon adjournment. He expected that on resuming a, full agreement on the proposals submitted would be reached.
