There is apparently little hope of minimising the fading of Australian beam by recourse to alternate ware lengths, ns in the case of India and South Africa It is understood that all such tests hare been without result in Australia, though India always hears the signals. It is now suggested to utilise India for relaying, and thus extend the period of communication with Australia.

TELEPHONE SERVICE OPENED,
WASHINGTON, January 30.
The transatlantic wireless telephone service between the United States and the Netherlands was inaugurated to-day. Mr’Kellogg and the Dutch Foreign Minorchanged formal greetings.
