The Rev. Frank Wilkinson, having accepted a call lo the Presbyterian church at Wadestown (Wellington), left this morning, with his wife, lor Ids new charge. Dr D. H. Saunders, of Elthum, has been visiting his parents in Dunedin, and started for his homo this morning. Mr J. H. White (Miller and White) travelled by train to Christchurch today. Mr J. S. Faulkner went to Ashburton by the through express to-day. Mr H. E. Skinner (of Sargood’s) started for Auckland, on business, by the 11.34 train this morning. Mr G. Ritchie travelled from Dunedin to Christchurch by to-day’s second express. Mr W. H. Denton, of the Trotting Association, left Dunedin for Christchurch this morning. Mr T. R. Bavin, Premier of New South Wales, is to visit the Hermitage and Queenstown, and reach Dunedin by train at 6.23 p.m. on the 9th, leaving Dunedin on Saturday for Lyttelton. Mr W. F. Smith, Deputy _ Premier of Queensland, is to arrive in Dunedin from the North on Saturday afternoon. Mr D. Tannock has returned from his trip to 'Wellington with Dr Hill. Though sufficient time was not alI lowed the Kiwi Swimming Club’s members to tender a fitting farewell to Miss Kathleen Miller, New Zealand ladies’ 220yds and 440yds swimming champion, the committee met last night, when congratulations were tendered to Miss Miller on her success at the recent national championships, and to her nomination for inclusion m the New Zealand Olympic team Mention was made of the fact that Miss Miller had been five times champion of the club, to which she’, had rendered yeoman service ns iadies’ club captain. The wish was expressed that idiss Miller would not only cover herself with glory in Australia, but that she would go on success at the Olympic Games. Miss Miller briefly responded, and stated that she attributed her present success to what had been done for her by the Kiwi Club. Accompanied by her mother, she left for the North to-day, and will leave for Australia on Friday, On her return to Dunedin Miss Miller is to he honored at a social function by the Kiwi Club. An Auckland Press Association telegram announces the death of Mr Joseph Drummond, headmaster of the grammar school. A social evening was tendered by members of the Returned Soldiers’ _ Association and the Returned Soldiers’ Choir to Mr R. Buchanan at the club rooms on Monday evening. Mr Buchanan has been club steward for the last twelve months, and has been intimately associated with its social activities for a number of years. _ On behalf of the association, the president (Mr A. C. Laing) presented Mr Buchanan with a travelling case, and referred to the active part he had taken in matters pertaining to the welfare of the association during the past six years. Mr P. Anderson, on behalf of the Returned Soldiers’ Choir, presented the guest of the evening with a wallet, and he was also the recipient of a wristlet watch from the secretary and stall 'of the association.
