Bowling analysis.—Hammond throe for 02, Wyatt oiie for 44, Staples three for 81, Peebles none for 48, Freeman one lor 18, Astill two for 5, Stevens none for 9. Peebles put up a plucky resistance and was difficult to dislodge, as he declined to touch balls on the off. Taylor played with his old brilliancy except for one brief period, when he appeared affected by the rapid fall of the wickets. He secured his century in 143 min—the first century against the tourists. The “ tail ” played vigorously and pulled the game round. There were two short stoppages owing to rain, Deane and Cameron had faultless knocks and in the race against the rain piled on runs. The partnership yielded 89 for the ninth wicket. The stand of Bissett and Vincent was exciting, they putting on 46 runs in 22min.
