GROSE BEATS OAKLEY. At a sports meeting at Wanganui last evening F. J. Grose (New Zealand champion cyclist) defeated J. G. Oakley (West Coast, North Island champion) over half a mile by three-quar-ters of a length, in 60 2-ssec, both starting off scratch. These two riders found the handicaps too severe m other events, but Grose, off scratch, against four B grade cyclists, covered five laps to win in 2min 14 3-ssec. Kenny, who was second, also won the two-mile open.
