POST OFFICE RECEIVING BOXES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—At the old post office, now being pulled down, there is a notice that a receiving box has been put at the corner of High and Princes streets. On trying to post Saturday 6 ‘Star’ I found it would not go in owing to the opening being too small. The box that has been provided to receive hundreds of newspapers and packages in the locality referred to is of the obsolete type used when the boxes were emptied by men carrying bags, before the coming of the motor. The same fault is apparent in all the pillar boxes—the opening is too small. Now that the pillar boxes are cleared by motor vans it see,ms the public convenience would be met by having the openings enlarged.—l am, etc., X.Y.Z. January 23.
