SMUGGLED ARMS
LITTLE ENTENTE’S PROTEST. Brass Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 25. It is known that the Little Entente drafted a Note last week, but it has not yet been presented, at Geneva, where the presentation is reported to have been postponed in deference to one of the great Powers, described as not wholly uninterested. Meantime, Czecho-Slovakia is the latest to disclaim ownership.
[A previous message read as follows;—“There has been a great mystery about truckloads of camouflaged Italian machine guns discovered in transit at the frontier rail station of St. Gothard. Nobody knew to whom they belonged, and nobody would admit ownership. An AustroHungarian Commission that investigated the matter _ reports that Poland was the destination. Little Entente circles, however, scoff at this finding. The Little Entente is lodging a protest to Geneva on Monday against arms smuggling by Hungary, pointing out that under the peace treaties permission must be obtained.]
