SMALL ’PLANE IN TRAFFIC

STARTS AND LANDS IN STREET MR CHAMBEBUN’S FEAT. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, January 24., (Received January 25, at 9.10 a.m.) Mr Clarence Chamberlin has started on a 30,000-mile lecture tour, following up the aviation boom which Colonel Lindbergh started, using a light, small, one-man machine. Mr Chamberlin made a sensational start, taking off from a tree-lined street without halting the motor car traffic. Wheeling the ’plane from the factory into the street, he waited for a gap in tho traffic, then slipped in 100 ft. Later, wishing to return for readjustments, he once more picked a gap in the traffic, and landed among tho motor cars. He made the necessary repairs on the roadside, and ascended again amid the cheers of a great crowd.—Sydney 1 Sun ’ Cable.
