MEETING OF OTAGO ASSOCIATION EIGHT-GAR. RACE ARRANGED. A meeting of the Otago Rowing Association was held last night, Mr E. \. Fairburn (president) in the cliuir. It was decided to commence the eight-oared race among the lower and upper harbor clubs on the evening ol Monday, January JO. The first heat, between the upper harbor clubs, will he commenced at 6 o’clock, and the second heat, between the two Port Chalmers clubs, as soon after as possible. The race will be rowed at Dunedin on a mile and a-h'alf course. Messrs Priest, Wilson, and Smcaton wore appointed to watch the race and pick the Otago interprovincial eightoared crew. It was decided to approve of the rowing of youths’ and maiden four races at the St. Leonards and Burkes regatta on February 4, these races to be rowed over a measured mile course. Mr E. V. Fairbairn was appointed as starter and umpire, and as representative of the N.Z.A.R.A., Messrs Lysaght, Glengarry, and Duncan were appointed as judges. It was decided to approve of the programme of races for the Port Chalmers regatta, to be held on February 25. The regatta will commence at 2 p.m., and the events will he rowed in the following order:—Youths’ fours, junior double sculls, maiden fours, youths’ double sculls, senior fours, maiden double sculls, junior lours, and youths’ pair-oar race. All the races will be over a mile course. The following officials were appointed for the regatta ;—Starler, Mr Lysaght; umpire, Mr M.Tf. Priest; judges— Messrs P. J. Priest,. Glengarry, and Smeaton. The matter of fixing the date of the association’s regatta was held over till a further meeting. It was decided to send letters of sympathy to the Union Rowing Club (Christchurch) and the Canterbury Rowing Association in connection with the dentil of Mr H. L. Bush, a member of the Union Club, who was drowned ni New Brighton on Sunday.
