NATIONAL GHAMPfOIISHSPS CONTINUED BREASTSTROKE HEATS 'l'his morning provided a quiet session in the Now Zealand national swimming and diving championships, and the only heats that were swam off were those ol the New Zealand men’s national 220yds breast-stroke ciiampionsbip. Fastest time in the boats was put up by N. K. Sylow, of Auckland, who returned Bmin 11 2-ssec, and, though the title holder, E. CL Heard, won his heat comfortably in slower time, ibe final should provide a rare tussle between this pair, with L. Smith, of Wanganui, also making things interesting. Sylow and Heal'd provide a contrast in styles, the former swimming well up above the water, while Heard gets well down. Results;--220YDS MENS’ NATIONAL BREASTSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP Holder of title, E. Further heats-and a round of water polo will he decided to-morrow morning, and in the evening a splendid programme will bo decided, including 880 yards men’s national championships and the final of 220yds men’s national breaststroke championship. Tho 100yds intermediate boys’ championship should be productive of fast time on the part of the AVellingtou crack and title holder, W. Cameron, while great interest is being taken in the first stages of the men’s and ladies’ national diving championships. The final of the intermediate boys’ diving championship will ho held, and the 100yds junior girls’ and 220yds junior boys’ championships arc also to be decided. BURLESQUE CARNIVAL. On Thursday night, which is the off night of the championship programme, a burlesque carnival will be hold, at which some thrills arc promised by a troupe of fancy clivers whose clever frolics on the boards should provide much fun. A ladies’ water polo match, North v. South, is also being arranged, and a round of championship polo will also be' played.
