Mrs James Horn went off this morning (o take part in the croquet tournaments at Wanganui ana Palmerston North. An Association message from New Plymouth announces the death of Colonel John Elwin, a, veteran of the 43rd Regiment and later connected with the Volunteer Forces, a<*ed eighty-six. It also records the death of Mr Stanley Wakefield Shaw, aged sixtyfour. He was connected with the late Mr Newton King throughout the lalter's business career, and succeeded him as managing director of Newton King, Ltd. The Rev. W. B. Scott, with Mrs and Miss R. Scott, left to-day on a short holiday visit to Cromwell and Queenstown. They will return via Gore on Saturday, February 4.
