FIRE IN SYDNEY
BIG BUILDING DESTROYED MANY NARROW ESCAPES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 15. (Received January 16, at 1.30 a.m.) Fire destroyed the Wynyard building in the heart of the city, occupied by a number of firms. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO. There were many narrow escapes. Three firemen were trapped on the third floor, and had to be rescued by means of an escape ladder. Thev were dragged through a window when they were on the verge of collapse.
