RATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Splendid entries have been received for the New Zealand national swimming championships, which commence in Dunedin next Saturday afternoon and night, and the cream of swimmtrs and divers from Auckland, Wanganui, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, Hawke’s Bay, and South Canterbury will be seen in action during tho progress of tho carnival. Among the famous swimmers taking part are D. P. Lindsay (Canterbury), holder of all titles from 220yds to one mile, and possible Olympic representative, who is swimming better than ever this season; Norman Dowsctt (Wanganui), holder of the New Zealand 100yds record;, W. Cameron (Wellington), a great intermediate swimmer, who has been breaking fresh records during the past few weeks; J. P. Enwright (Auckland), holder of many titles in tho past; Miss K. Miller (Otago), holder of New Zealand ladies’ 220yds and 440yds titles; Miss Eva Stockley (Auckland), holder of New Zealand ladies’ 100yds title; Miss 1). Mageo (Auckland), who recently defeated Miss Stockley; Miss Edna Champion (Auckland), an_ intermediate record-breaker; and Miss M. Jepson (Otago). The first day’s programme should provide some keen competition, the two star attractions being the 100,yds men’s national championship and 100yds Indies’ national championship, both of which will provide great races. Junior and intermediate classes will also be keenly contested, while in the mile national championship Lindsay is expected to register great time. The box plan is now open.
