Y.W.C.A. CONFERENCE

At the annual conference of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand, at Wesley College, Paerata, the programme on Sunday week last included the usual study groups, and morning and evening devotional services were conducted by the girls. On Monday morning an interesting talk on ‘ Association Aims and Principles ’ was given by Miss Bentham, general secretary of Christchurch Y.W.C.A. Miss Bentham mentioned certain principles underlying association life, chief among them being ; Belief in girls, association as exemplified in tho Y.W.C.A., religion is all life and not a part of life, and the value of the individual. Miss Batt, general secretary of tire Dunedin Y.W.C.A., followed, and stressed some of the points raised by Miss Bentham, especially that of the value of tho individual. On the Monday afternoon the delegates were entertained at afternoon tea in the college grounds by members of the Auckland Y.W.C.A., when a happy time was spent. In tho evening, as dusk fell, everyone gathered outside round a camp lire. Items were given by visiting delegations, and then in a beautiful, though simple, ceremony the camp fire was lit, and vespers brought the evening to a close. Tuesday was occupied with sectional discussions on the 1 Association Purpose,’ ‘National Finance,’ ‘Relations of Boards and Stall’s,’ and ‘Committee Service.’ The evening session closed with reports from Gisborne and Palmerston North.
