SUICIDE. No further evidence was tendered by the police in connection with the inquest on Georgina Waters who was recently found dead in the lupins at St. Kilda. The coroner (Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.), who withheld his verdict from the adjourned inquest pending further inquiries by the police, stated this morning that the evidence _ satisfied him that the deceased committed suicide by poisoning, following extreme mental depression caused by illness. PURAKANUI DROWNING. The inquest on William Anderson Forbes, who was found dead on Long Beach, Purakanui, on December 25, 1927, was continued this morning, when Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., sitting as coroner, gave his verdict on receipt of the medical evidence of Dr A. B. Roy, of Port Chalmers. The doctor’s evidence was to the effect that deceased’s lungs showed signs of death from asphyxia, and that all the findings showed that death was due to drowning on about December 24, 1927. “ Accidentally drowned ” was the verdict returned by the coroner. A BOY’S DEATH. Bobbie Mason, aged seven years, a grandson of the Mayor of Otaki (Mr J. P. Brandon), fell from his bicycle vesterdav and cut his leg. Ho w-as admitted to the hospital, where he died later.—Otaki Press Association telegram. DROWNED IN TUB OF WATER. A well-known local resident, Mrs John Hembert Hawes, of Central street, Matamata, was found dead in the washhouse of her home yesterday. At the inquest the coroner returned a verdict that deceased met her death by being drownd in a tub of water, and that the evidence was not sufficient to show r how she got in the water.
