ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
DIED FROM INJURIES. Frank Haynes, the victim of an accident at Ellis and Burnand’s mill at Manui yesterday morning, died in Taumarunui Hospital in the afternoon. CHILD DROWNED. Joyce Williams, the five-year-old daughter of a Wostshore resident, was drowned in the inner harbor at Napier. The deceased t was on a small jetty at Wostshore with another child, aged three. Apparently Joyce fell off the jetty, and by the time the other child had informed the mother no sign of the unfortunate girl could ho found. The body was later recovered by the police. THROWN FROM HORSE, John Colin Chambers, an employee of the Mauriceville County Council, was found lying dead on the road at Hastwoll, near Mangamahoe, at midday on Sunday. It was found that Chambers’s neck was broken, and it is presumed that be was thrown from a horse ho was seen riding in the vicinity that morning. The deceased was forty-four years of age, and leaves a widow and two children. FATAL SEIZURE. Denis Crowley, of Ashhurst, a married, man with a family, got into difficulties in the Pohangina River yestcrdav afternoon. The body was recovered half an hour later in a black-and-hluc condition, suggesting heart seizure. Palmerston North message. A CHILD DROWNED. Robert Seymour, aged twenty-one months, a son of N. Seymour, taxi driver, of Galloway street, Hamilton East, wandered away from home yesterday, and was later found drowned in a tub of water, which had been left for stock in a neighboring paddock.—Press Association telegram. FARMER’S COLLAPSE. A Marton Association message states that Alexander David Cockburn, aged sixty-eight, a well-known Rangitikei farmer, was found dead in a paddock adjoining his homestead, near Marton, yesterday. It is believed that death was due to a heart attack. Deceased previously suffered several serious illnesses. Ho was unmarried.
