The Rev. R. A. Foodc, 8.D., of the diocese of Maine (U.S.A.), has been appointed to the charge of the parochial district of Balc’lutna.

Superintendent Willis, who has been appointed to take charge of the Otago police district, arrived by the second exoress last night. Sir Thomas Mackenzie arrived from Christchurch by tho first express yesterday. He will proceed to the Catlins district this evening. Mr A. S. Cookson travelled to Wellington this morning. Messrs J. Hensley, J. M'lntyrc, and J. Macdonald came through from Invercargill to-day on their way to Oamaru on business connected with tho timber trade.

Mr James Gilkison passed through from Invercargill on his way north today. A Nelson Association message announces the death of Mr E. H. Bisley, formerly of the well-Jmown firm, of Bisley Bros. Deceased for many years was very prominent in business and farming circles. Ho was seventy-one years old. New guests to the Grand Hotel include Mr N. Sceman (London). Mr and Airs G. King (Leighton Buzzard Beds, England), Misses Hackett and Lowcn ( Adelaide), Mr and Mrs J. H. Itobortsou (Melbourne). Mrs A. Simm. Miss L. Simm. and Sir L. Cheyne (Auckland). Sir Charles and Lad.v Holdsworth, Sir, Sirs, and Sliss Slcnzies, and Messrs H. Vickery and L ; S. Gibson (Wellington), and Miss N. M'Kinlcy (Lawrence). Recent arrivals to the City Hotel include Sir H. Trenwith (Auckland), Sir T. Webster (Wellington), Sliss SI. Craighead and Sir W. Knell (Waimate). Mr J. Wilson (Timaru), and Sir J. Campbell (Invercargill). Among the new visitors to the Excelsior Hotel are Mr O. V. Lunn (Sydney), Sir J. A. Slilne (Auckland). Sirs SI. SI. Thompson, Sliss Slartin, Sir J. B. Park (Christchurch), Sir T. Wealleams (Little River), Sirs W. J. Wylie and Miss D. A. Wylie (Oamaru), Mr C. R. Shand (Invercargill), Sirs and Sliss Green (Patearoa).
