RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS
CIRCUS HAHDS SENTENCED [Pee United Peess Association,] WELLINGTON, January 10. Three circus hands, who pleaded guilty last week to receiving stolen goods, were to-day each sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, the magistrate remarking that the offences seemed to be a concerted master, the property, being part of goods stolen in the South Island from motor cars and other places, for which thefts four other men had been sentenced to terms of three months. In order that the men might not be left stranded in New Zealand, the magistrate agreed to alter the sentence to a fine of £5, ill default a fortnight in gaol.
