TOTALISATOR FIGURES

HOLIDAY MEETINGS INCREASED TOTAL THIS SEASON A study of the totalisatojr figures during the Christmas and New Year holiday period shows that, though some of the clubs had a decrease, the total was well in advance of last season’s figures. The racing clubs had a total of £979,864, compared with £934,712, an increase of £45,162. In the case of the trotting clubs there was a decrease from £368,551 to £360,477 10s, or £BO7 3s lOd, but this was more than accounted for by the fact that the Greymouth Trotting Club raced on two days last season, and only on one day this season. The aggregate for the two sports was £1,340,341 10s, compared with £1,303,263 last year, or a total increase of £37,078 10s. Two years ago the total was £1,414,117 10s. Of the racing clubs, the Auckland, Manawatu, Waipnkuran, and Stratford had tho best financial returns, Waipukurau doing best of all, as the investments were nearly doubled, while Marton had a pronounced decline. Most of the trotting clubs just about balanced last season’s figures, the notable exceptions being Auckland, with a big increase, and Canterbury Park, which had a' heavy drop, largely due to unfavorable weather on the second day.
